Talking Hair Relaxers in the Washington Post

Happy New Year!

The Washington Post has an article in the Health section about hair relaxers and the harmful chemicals in them - take a look.  I am amazed that black women experience a plethora of hair problems (i.e. hair loss, breakage, thinning, baldness), and some still continue to chemically relax their hair.

What do you think?

Interesting article - thanks for posting. I wish they would have interviewed/featured someone along with the other lady who says she doesn't use relaxers - maybe even featured an all natural blog. But hey it's a start :o)

I also didn't like how it ended with the quote from the one lady who said she wasn't going to relax her child's hair just because she didn't want to hear her boyfriend's mouth - I thought that was odd.

But maybe I've been spoiled by all my fellow nappy blog writers - we would have surely written an article to remember :o)

Yes - my biggest issue is the fact that no one in the article was natural! That just seemed like a logical view point to have in the article.
